The TP-Link Deco XE75 was one of the first affordable WiFi 6E mesh systems, and it remains our top recommendation in 2026. WiFi 6E's key innovation is the 6GHz band — a pristine swath of spectrum with no interference from legacy devices, microwave ovens, or neighboring WiFi networks. For apartment dwellers and dense suburban neighborhoods, this alone is transformative.
Setup is refreshingly simple. The Deco app guides you through placing each node, with real-time signal strength indicators that help you find optimal locations. Most users will have a working mesh network in 10-15 minutes. The system automatically configures channel selection, band steering (automatically assigning devices to the best band), and seamless roaming between nodes.
Performance is outstanding for the price. In our 3,200 sq ft two-story test home, the 3-pack delivered consistent 500-700 Mbps in every room when connected to a Gigabit internet plan. The dedicated wireless backhaul (using the 6GHz band to communicate between nodes) means satellite nodes don't halve your speed — a common problem with dual-band mesh systems.
The limitations are few but worth noting. The 6GHz band's shorter range means nodes should be placed 30-40 feet apart (not the 50+ feet possible with 2.4GHz). All Ethernet ports are Gigabit (1Gbps), which is fine for most homes but limits users with 2Gbps+ fiber plans. And the HomeShield Pro parental controls ($5.99/month after year one) feel like an unnecessary upsell for features that should be free.
Compared to the newer Deco XE200 (WiFi 7), the XE75 offers 90% of the real-world performance at 60% of the price. Unless you have WiFi 7 devices and a multi-gig internet plan, the XE75 is the smarter buy.
